Establishment of the first Himalayan Pen Pal Program at the Lukla Government School

Through SherpaCares, these three sponsors donated the necessary equipment and laptop computers to launch the first Himalayan Pen Pal Program in the Classroom in the Clouds computer lab at the Lukla village school. Students’ literacy rates and their ability to converse in English sky-rocketed.

Disabled Porter Co-Op

Through SherpaCares, Carl and Mike sponsor a co-operative in Kathmandu, Nepal for disabled porters. Our goal is to help them find gainful employment in other areas. Porters, who were once the backbone of mountaineering expeditions, are able to establish new roles for themselves raising healthy, educated families.
