Wednesday March 2nd, 2016 7-9:30pm at the Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel, Seattle
We have SOLD OUT! Thank you all for your interest and support. Even if you are unable to attend, please consider giving a donation to continue to support the cause.
Please note: the event has moved rooms and will now take place in the Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel. The Ballroom is on the Lobby Level.
The dress code is climber casual.
The evening will include presentations by both world-renowned climber Ed Viesturs and the mastermind behind the Himalayan English Boarding School, Dawa Geljen Sherpa. It will also consist of a silent auction, drinks, and desserts; concluding with an ask and a give to support rebuilding the Himalayan English Boarding School. The HEBS is paramount in the preservation of the Sherpa Culture. Please click here for more information about the HEBS and to find out about how your money will be used.
Both presenters, Ed and Dawa, were close friends of Seattle-based climber Scott Fischer, who perished in the 1996 Everest disaster. The event is hosted by Scott’s family and friends.
Scott’s legacy has been chronicled most notably in Jon Krakaur’s novel, Into Thin Air, and more recently in the major motion picture Everest, in which Scott was portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal. Scott’s loved ones knew him as someone who was full of contagious enthusiasm. Due to the tragic nature of his final climb, Scott is often remembered not for who he was in life, but instead for the story of his death. The Himalayan English Boarding School will be dedicated to Scott Fischer. The Sherpa people were very important to Scott, and his friends and family are incredibly honored at the opportunity to associate his legacy with such a remarkable cause; a cause that falls in line with who he was as a person- supportive, encouraging, and always pushing other’s towards their goals.
For questions or comments please email Scott’s daughter at KatieRose@SherpaCares.org.
Note: if you are able to donate any silent auction items, please let us know!
