An Evening with Ed Viesturs.
A Benefit for Education and Rebuilding in Nepal.
The evening will include drinks, snacks, a silent auction, slideshow and live music.

Tuesday June 7th, 2016
Writer’s Boot Camp Space 2525 Michigan Ave Santa Monica, CA

World renowned climber Ed Viesturs will present a slideshow of his conquests of the world’s highest mountains, including his ascent of K2 with Scott Fischer. Fischer was an American mountaineer and mountain guide who passed away in the 1996 Everest disaster. He was recently portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal in Universal’s film, Everest. His children, Andy and Katie Rose, are throwing the event. The evening will include drinks, snacks, a silent auction and live music. In partnership with non-profit SherpaCares, the goal of the evening is to raise money towards rebuilding and expanding the Himalayan English Boarding School in Lukla, Nepal, which was destroyed in the 2015 earthquakes. Dawa Geljen Sherpa will discuss the loss of Sherpa culture and how one school can be the model that sustains cultural preservation in rural mountain regions. As a tribute to Scott Fischer, the school will honor his involvement with the Sherpa culture. All donations will be tax deductible through Cloud Force Institute 501(c)3.

On March 2, 2016 SherpaCares hosted a fundraiser at the Seattle Hilton and raised almost $150,000 toward rebuilding the Himalayan English Boarding School.

Both presenters, Ed and Dawa, were close friends of Seattle-based climber Scott Fischer, who perished in the 1996 Everest disaster, and to whom the Himalayan English Boarding School will be dedicated.
